Weekly Newsletter: Thanksgiving Service Dinners

Weekly Newsletter: November 6th

“October 17th: Day of Service”

On Saturday, October 17th we partnered with the Utah Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution to deliver surprise pizzas and packaged vegetables to 23 different households in Utah County. We want to thank all the volunteers that came out and participated from our organization as well as from DAR. The participation was fantastic and the households we delivered to were very grateful.

Delivering Thanksgiving Dinners

*This is going to need lots of participation and coordination so if you have time please consider helping out Activity #1: Food Drive-Saturday, November 21st 9am-11am On Saturday, November 21st from 9am-11am at 1600 900 E, Provo, UT 84604 (LDS Church Parking Lot) we will be holding a food drive for Thanksgiving Dinner items. Please bring any boxed stuffing, canned cranberries, canned green beans, instant mashed potatoes, or pumpkin pies to the LDS Church parking lot listed above. We will have volunteers there packaging the items into boxes to prepare them for delivery. Activity #2: Deliveries-Saturday, November 21st at 12pm We want this activity to be unique and individual for those who participate. If you would like to assist in making deliveries, we encourage you to do the following: Think of a family in your neighborhood, religious community, school, etc who is struggling and could use a delivered Thanksgiving Dinner If you don’t know anyone off the top of your head, that is ok. We encourage you to reach out to religious leaders, school principals, and community leaders to identify a family Ideally, these leaders have connections with families who are struggling and can reach out to them on your behalf. Once you have identified a family (whether by you or by a community leader) you can contact them and let them know what time you will make the delivery (Saturday, November 21st around 12pm) Then, please email to let us know that you will be participating. Please include your name, the family you are delivering to, as well as their address and phone number Then, on Saturday, November 21st at 12pm, please come to 1600 900 E, Provo, UT 84604 (LDS Church Parking Lot) and pick up your food box that will be packaged for you to take There will be a “Turkey Ticket” in each food box. This will allow you to go to a local grocery store (specifics forthcoming) and pick up a Turkey that we have pre-purchased. You will then deliver the turkey and food box to the households We also encourage you to let the households know about our organization/programs if they need future assistance *You can also participate in both programs **We are strongly encouraging you to think of someone in your area and make this event as personal as possible. If you try and cannot find anyone, we do have clients that you could deliver these dinners to. If this is the case, please email and let us know.
